It looks like you play regular rules with two players. We usually play two or three large missions and we each get two sets of trains when we play with just the two of us. You guys should try it some time.
We thought about trying to play 2 players each, but got really confused after getting about 5 missions, so we sacked that idea. But maybe we'll do what you said - 2 train sets, but working together...
